The building that houses the Kharkiv School of Architecture (Kontorska Street, 5 is the former mansion of the merchant Yenurovsky. According to some researchers of Kharkiv’s history, it was originally built in the mid-19th century but acquired its current appearance after numerous renovations in the 1880s and 1890s; others, however, claim that it was built from scratch in 1897.

Merchant Fyodor Enurovsky owned a chain of haberdashery stores in Kharkiv.

In 1902, the building was renovated once again to host balls, musical evenings, and theatrical performances (it was also known as the Yenurovsky Theater). Famous musicians such as Chaliapin and Rachmaninoff performed here.

Starting in 1907, the “Ves Mir” movie theater operated in the building.

After Fyodor Enurovsky’s death in 1913, the building housed the South Railway Club, a post office, a library, workshops, and courses in shorthand and typing…

From the 1990s to the 2010s, the building housed Inna Bogoslovskaya’s law firm.

The building was renovated by designer Yuri Ryntovt.

On March 2–3, 2019, we held the 10th Kharkiv’s History Night in the building.

We especially remember the large hall on the second floor, where opera singers once performed and balls were held.
