Dear friends and followers!
Way back on September 13, 2014, the paths of six completely different people suddenly crossed.
We were walking through our beloved city, which beckoned and enticed us. I was a stranger to some of the people who had gathered there. However, God knows, I had no idea HOW that September encounter would radically change my entire life. After all, as early as October 18, 2014, the first post appeared on Facebook: “The Kharkiv Moniaсs Art and Cultural Association raided Kontorska Street. For old Kharkiv keeps beckoning us, over and over…”
It’s been almost a year now that we’ve been hearing Kharkiv’s call and following it… Every day we discover something new. We hold public lectures, take walks, go on expeditions, and work with historical documents… Perhaps without even realizing it, we’ve become a sort of “Kharkiv Columbuses,” discovering new, uncharted lands. Although, much to my regret, the crews of our “Santa Maria,” “Ninja,” and “Pinta” are not yet fully staffed.
The awards ceremony and presentation of acknowledgments will take place on October 10 during the foundation’s anniversary celebration.
However, since the project itself was launched at the very beginning of fall, we made the difficult decision to rename the foundation.
What’s more, to be honest, none of us took what the Foundation has become today seriously at first. Because of that, even our name wasn’t particularly serious—and was even a bit mischievous. We thought we’d just have some fun and then go our separate ways. No one even suspected that we’d be able to last this long and accomplish so much.
So we’re still the same old Kharkiv “moniacs” at heart, and from now on, the foundation will be called “Alluring Kharkiv.” In our opinion, this sounds more acceptable to everyone and somehow more grown-up, so to speak…
So, let’s give a warm welcome to “Alluring Kharkiv”—long live AKh!)
