According to research conducted in the 1850s by Archbishop Filaret Gumilevsky of Kharkiv, the Trinity Church in Mala Komyshuvakha (now in the Izyum District of Kharkiv Oblast) was built in 1793 and had a congregation of 2,286 in 1850.

According to the 1904 reference book for the Kharkiv Diocese, this church was built in 1826 as a single-altar stone structure (the first wooden church had likely been built on the same site in 1793); by 1904, the parish already had 3,601 members. A parish school operated at the church.

The church was severely damaged as a result of Russian shelling on March 8, 2022. The dome was hit by a tank shell.

Russian troops set up a hospital in the church.

A storage room was set up in the altar.

As a result of damage to the dome, rainwater leaked into the church, causing it to flood.
