There is an unusual church building located at Yaroslavska Street, 28.

It was built between 1912 and 1914 according to a design by architect Boris Kornienko as an Old Believer Church of the Dormition of the Mother of God. The church was distinguished by its very tall and narrow drum and domes.

In 1930, the church was converted into a museum of the police and criminal investigation department.

The ornate domes were most likely lost at that time. During World War II, the building was severely damaged.

In 1948, the church was transferred to the Evangelical Christian Baptist congregation, which renovated the building.

It remains in their possession to this day.
The church is now called “The Transfiguration”.
