Kharkiv Confectionery

A video recording of the lecture “Kharkiv Confectionery,” which we dedicated to “sweet” Kharkiv in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, the chocolate magnates, and their factories and stores.

We also made an “edible model” out of modern chocolate and printed pre-revolutionary wrappers. The proportions of the chocolate bars back then were very different from today’s, so we had to cut the chocolate up quite a bit.

In addition, at the event we made chocolate using a pre-revolutionary recipe (thanks to Viktor Dmitrenko for finding it)

The lecture took place on March 28, 2015, at the INDIE Cultural Center at 4 Chernyshevskaya Street, with the support of the “Maidan Monitoring” Information Center.
