The Headquarters of the Military Settlements in Chuhuiv is one of the city’s main attractions. Designed by Vasily Stasov, it is a national architectural landmark built in 1831 in Neoclassical style.

Since 2010, the building has housed the Art Gallery of the Winners of the Ilya Repin Art Prize.

In 2020, the venue began hosting exhibitions in previously abandoned rooms and on the basement level.

Particularly memorable are the brick “flooring” on the basement level and the interesting brickwork patterns on its walls, the wide staircases, the high ceilings, and the overall solidity of the walls.

The building has been included in the “Great Restoration” program, but it appears that funding will not be allocated anytime soon.

On the list of “Great Restoration” projects, buildings in the Kharkiv region were being addressed in the 90s numbers, while in 2021 the government focused only on the first 20.

Staff at the Chuhuiv Museum have begun converting the abandoned rooms into exhibition halls on their own (even though they are not heated); work has been carried out to reinforce the floors, install lighting, and ensure general safety for visitors.
