The steam mill on Kharkivs’ka Embankment was built in 1893 – this year could be seen on the building’s roof.

The owner of the mill was the family of merchant Vasyl Gladky.

The mill survived the fire of 1899; it was restored in 1904. There are legends that during active work the area around the mill was sometimes covered with white flour powder.

In recent decades, the mill stood abandoned.

There were many projects for its restoration (including as an art factory), but as a result, in 2019-2020 the building was reconstructed into a co-working and IT park called “Manufactura.” The designers added a floor, covered the brickwork with insulation and decorative bricks, and made the roof more gentle. A restaurant is planned on the first floor.

The familiar image of a red brick mill, which has already become a symbol of this part of the embankment, is no longer recognizable, but the building will be put into operation again.

The current address of the building is Yuliia Chyhyryna Street, 13.
