The building of the Izium Girls’ Gymnasium was constructed in 1903 to a design by the architect Mikhail Lovtsov, best known for his designs for the Annunciation Cathedral in Kharkiv and the renovation of Cathedral of the Transfiguration in Izium.

The girls’ school itself was established in the town as early as 1861. Some of the building materials used for the new building were taken from Logvinov’s palace in the village of Kapitolivka.

From 1920 to 1940, the building housed the I. Franko Pedagogical Technical College. It was severely damaged during the WWII, and in the 1960s, the building was transferred to the municipal polyclinic.

As a result of shelling by Russian troops in March 2022, the building was again seriously damaged; its roof burned down and the floors collapsed.
