Kulykivskyj Descent, 16

This building with caryatids on is one of the most beautiful on the Kulykivskyj Descent.

This eclectic-style apartment block was built in 1903 to a design by the architect M.I. Dashkevich.

Including the basement, the building has a total of five storeys; the top floor was added in the 1930s.

The building originally belonged to Olimpiada Ivanivna Voskresenska, the wife of a collegiate secretary. At that time, the street was called Gubernatorska. Among the most famous residents of the house, it is worth noting Robert Petrovich Krymberg, professor of the Department of Medical Chemistry at Kharkiv University, as well as E. I. Krymberg, professor at the Kharkiv Women’s Medical Institute.

The building is currently part of the architectural complex of the O. Beketov Kharkiv National University of Municipal Economy.

From 1922 to 2015, this was Revolution Street

On 5 February 2023, a Russian missile strike hit Kulykivskyj Descent, damaging several architectural landmarks, including this building.
