Sports Complex of NTU “KhPI” is located in Molodizhnyy Park.
And although it is not an architectural monument, it is a vivid example of late Ukrainian modernism.
It was built in 1985-1991.
Thousands of students, teachers, and employees worked together on the construction of this sports complex.
NTU “KhPI” Sports Complex was the only sports facility in Ukraine that was awarded the State Prize in the field of architecture.
It also had the status of “Olympic Training Base of Ukrainian National Teams”
The total area of the complex was 8,602 square meters.
The complex included 2 swimming pools (including a 50-meter one), a game hall, specialized halls for wrestling, gymnastics, table tennis, and aerobics; a gym; an athletics arena; and a stadium with playing fields for tennis, basketball, mini-football, gymnastics, athletics, and football.
The main sports building of the complex was destroyed on the night of 06/24/2022 by a missile attack by Russian troops. Interiors of the surviving buildings of the complex were severely damaged.
