On June 9, 2026, a historic building designed by architect L. Lenevich and constructed in 1908 was severely damaged by a strike from a Russian “Shahed”-type drone.

Originally, it was an apartment building that, according to the 1909 list of property owners, belonged to the Stoikin family—Iosaf Andreevich, a law student, and his sons, lieutenant Vladimir and Sergei, a member of the nobility. At that time, the street was called Skrypnytska.

The building is an architectural landmark (registration number 7033-Ha). It is built in the unplastered brick Art Nouveau style.

Although the house looked not very well-kept, even after the bricks were cleaned, its facade would have come alive with its own rhythm, intricate relief, and play of light and shadow. Just look at the “multi-tiered” niches, into which the windows seemed to be “recessed,” and the decorative arches crowning the ends of the house.

A Russian drone destroyed the roof, floors, and structural elements of the upper floors, causing a fire that was extinguished by State Emergency Service units.

Two people and some pets were injured. The people were left homeless.
