Until recently, this architectural landmark was believed to be the home of architect E. Vasilyev, who built it for himself in 1818; in the 1840s, another architect, A. Ton, added an upper story (as well for his own use).

Recently, most of the building had been abandoned, and in 2020, two more floors were added (from the front, it looks like just one).

The legal battle between the prosecutor’s office and the developer over the demolition of the illegal addition continues.

In 2022, researcher A. Paramonov determined that the building was constructed according to Vasilyev’s design in 1836 to serve as a parsonage and a Lutheran school.
