The beautiful Art Nouveau house at Klochkivska Street, 3A, was built in 1913 for the merchant Srul-Nakhim Shlemovich Gulko.

In 1901, this merchant purchased a sizable plot of land at the beginning of Klochkivska Street and built several fairly large buildings on it.
The Gulko Houses are all that remains of the once densely built-up area at the beginning of Klochkivska Street and Serhiyiskyi Square.

Almost all the buildings here were destroyed during World War II. The building at Klochkivska Street was renovated in the 2000s based on a design by V. Novgorodov; the Inprombank annex was added at that time.
The original, documented designer of the Gulko House remains unknown; some researchers believe it was B. Kornienko.
