The house at Rymars’ka Street, 2 was built by architect Fyodor Nitsenko in 1884 for the noblewoman Olga Vasilyeva. However, according to alternative research, the building may be a reconstruction of an even older structure from the early 1850s, which was built by the merchant Nikolai Kushinnikov based on a design by Alexander Podyakov.

Originally, the house was two stories tall (plus a basement). As a result of the renovation in 2012, two attic floors were added, and a small domed turret was also built. Floors 2 through 4 were rebuilt on a metal frame.
