The double water tower near the "Kharkiv-Sortirovochny" station

The twin water towers located by the bridge near the “Kharkiv-Sortuvalnyi” freight station are a rare relic of the bygone era of steam locomotives, which had to be refilled with water every 100–150 km of the journey. Along with the Church of Sts. Constantine and Helena, this tower is one of Sortyrovka’s main attractions.

Of course, the tower isn’t in use anymore, and centralized water supply systems often no longer need towers like this… So these towers just stand there, like the remnants of fortresses and castles that never actually existed.

The windows of the tower still feature grilles with antique frames.

It is difficult to determine exactly when the tower was built, but it was most likely constructed in the 1890s or 1900s.
