The facade of Kharkiv Physics and Mathematics Lyceum No. 27 is memorable for its many intricate details—it looks as if it were carved from wood.

The building was designed by architect Boris Kornienko and constructed in 1901–1902 for the Mutual Aid Society of Clerks.

The current address of the lyceum, which was established here in 1963 as the first physics and mathematics school, is Mar’ins’ka Street, 12/14.

The lyceum building is the result of an extension added to another building, which was located at Mar’ins’ka Street, 14.

In 1914, it housed the 4th Boys’ Gymnasium; in the 1930s, the combined building housed Secondary School No. 47.

During World War II, the school was destroyed, but it was later rebuilt.
