Originally, the ground floor of the building housed the “Ampir” movie theater, which was opened by the building’s owner, Dmitry Ivanovich Kharitonov. It was the largest movie theater in Kharkiv.

Until 2008, the former “Ampir” venue housed the “1st Komsomolsky” movie theater. A distinctive feature of the theater was that its seats were arranged without a raised amphitheater-style platform, and there was a bar at the back of the auditorium.
