St. Basil’s Church in Pisochyn

According to Filaret Gumilevsky, the first church in Pesochino (as the present-day village was then called) was built as early as 1670.

The current church was built between 1823 and 1828.

This typical stone church in the Neoclassical style was expanded in 1889 with the addition of two side chapels—one dedicated to the Iveron Icon of the Mother of God and the other to the Apostles Peter and Paul.

The church’s bell tower is notable for the golden angel atop its spire.
