Rome is, in general, similar to Kharkiv

Sometimes our city can resemble both Prague and Lviv… In one of his letters, sent from Nice in 1891, Anton Chekhov wrote:

Rome is, generally speaking, similar to Kharkiv

Perhaps Chekhov intended this phrase to bring the Eternal City down to earth… Nevertheless, it’s a pleasant comparison. But in any case, Kharkiv is, first and foremost, reminiscent of itself.
