The building at Chernyshevska Street, 66, built in the “Romantic Art Nouveau” style in 1912, is a true gem of the neighborhood.

The project was designed by architect Volodymyr Pokrovsky, who originally built the house for himself.

Due to heavy debts and high construction costs, the architect was forced to mortgage the house; as a result, according to research by A. Paramonov, it came to be owned by the young nobleman Georgy Pitra (thanks to an investment by his guardians).

During the Soviet era, the building housed the Research Institute of Foundry Engineering.

Unfortunately, the lower floors of the building’s main facade are currently obscured by the restaurant building built in 2000s.
