The Academy traces its origins to the Kharkiv Veterinary Institute (1851) and the Agricultural School, which opened in 1855 at the Kharkiv farm of the Ministry of State Property.

The riding arena building at the horse farm is an architectural monument. It is one of the oldest horse farms in Sloboda Ukraine that is still in operation today. It currently houses a children’s and youth equestrian sports school.
