The A.S. Pushkin Comprehensive Elementary School was built between 1899 and 1901 at Malа Panasіvska Street, 1.

This was a project by Iliodor Zagoskin, possibly in collaboration with his brother Sergei, who had previously served as the city architect. The school’s website features an extensive section dedicated to its rich history. Initially, there were 15 classes with 577 students and 24 teachers.

During the Russo-Japanese War, the school organized relief efforts for the wounded, and its students also made undergarments for them. In the spring of 1904, sailors and officers from the sunken cruiser *Varyag*, who had survived the battle at Chemulpo, visited the school. The head of the board of trustees was N. Sumtsov, a professor at Kharkiv University. After the 1917 Revolution, the school continued to train personnel for the catering, trade, and other sectors. From 1937 to 1941, the building housed the 15th Special Artillery School.

In memory of the graduates of the 14th and 15th Artillery Schools in Kharkiv who were killed in WWII, a monument featuring a 76-mm ZiS-3 gun has been erected next to the school. The plaques list 368 names; two of them (P. Strizhak and B. Tasuy) were awarded the title of Hero of the Soviet Union.

In 1943, a trade and culinary school was established here, which was reorganized in 1966 into a vocational trade school. In the years that followed, it was renamed several times.

The building currently houses the “Regional Center for Education in the Restaurant, Hotel, Public Utilities, Retail, and Design Sectors,” a state-run technical educational institution.
