According to the list of architectural monuments, this house was presumably built in 1913 based on a design by Serhii Tymoshenko.

This architect left behind what is perhaps the largest number of buildings in the Ukrainian Art Nouveau style in the city.

The building currently houses the tax office.

In 1995, the house underwent restoration under the direction of V. Novgorodov and A. Grishko.

Interestingly, one of the mascarons features an image of an open book.

Trapezoidal windows are one of the most recognizable features of Ukrainian Art Nouveau.
