One of the most beautiful places on the Kharkiv Embankment is located between the Kharkiv bridge and Gorbaty bridge.
Perhaps its main architectural landmark, besides the steam mill, is the pink Art Nouveau building. It was built for the first private men’s gymnasium designed by Jūlijs Caune in 1911.
The gymnasium was founded by scientist and teacher Vasyl Davydenko (1871-1946), who was also its first director.

In 1917, the gymnasium was closed. In 1919, the Polytechnic School began operating there, which was replaced in 1945 by a women’s school, which became mixed in 1956.
Currently, the building located at Kharkivs’ka Embankment, 4 is home to Kharkiv Gymnasium No. 30.
