In the mid-19th century, there were about 15 charitable organizations in Kharkiv.
At number 13, we find the following establishment, which is quite unusual for our city: the Kharkiv branch of the Society for the Rescue of Drowning Victims in Shipwrecks.
The Kharkiv Branch of the Society for the Rescue of Drowning Victims in Shipwrecks (since 1873). The chairman of the Society’s board is Nikolai Evgrafovich Kovalevsky, head of the Kharkiv County nobility and a lieutenant commander in the navy.
