
Today, in the “Bedtime Stories” section, we feature Ukrainian children’s fairy tales by the outstanding Kharkiv writer Grigory Danilevsky, which were published in 1860. Even back then, Danilevsky noted that as a child in the 1830s, he had heard many Ukrainian fairy tales, but now (that is, in the late 1850s) they had largely been forgotten even among the people, and he had to reconstruct them from memory.
