The “long” building with elaborate decorations at Sumska Street, 19 is an apartment building originally owned by the “Zhizn” insurance company, designed by Nikolai Shtakenshneider in the late 19th century.

We especially recommend taking a look at the courtyard of the house—it’s very cozy and beautiful.

In fact, the building is based on an older two-story structure that was rebuilt by Stakenshneider.

The client who commissioned the construction of the apartment building was the nobleman Mikhail Likhonin.

He sold the building to the “Zhizn” Insurance Company in the early 1910s.
