In the not-too-distant past, our ancestors placed far greater emphasis on concepts such as honor, integrity, reputation, and so on.
The remarkable story we’re going to share with you today took place in 1913 and is directly connected to our beloved city. Two architects of the Southern Railway Administration building in Kharkiv wrote an open letter to the well-known magazine *Zodchiy*.
Below is the full text.
Regarding the Southern Railways Administration Building Project (Letter to the Editor)
Issue No. 40 of *Zodchiy* from 1912 includes a description of the design for the Southern Railways Administration Building in Kharkiv, signed by the designers O. I. Dmitriev and D. S. Rakitin.
Given that Vladimir Alexandrovich Glazyrin, a transportation engineer, played an active role in drafting the plan, his name should be added to those of the article’s signatories, especially since V. A. Glazyrin’s signature appeared on the draft submitted for review at the technical meeting of the railway administration and approved in precisely this version.
We request that this letter be published in the next issue of *Zodchiy* as a supplement to the article that appeared in issue No. 40 of *Zodchiy* in September 1912.
O.I. Dmitriev, D.S. Rakitin
Unfortunately, despite this letter, for reasons that remain entirely unclear to us, the name of Vladimir Alexandrovich Glazyrin—one of the architects of the building on the station square—remains unknown to the people of Kharkiv to this day.
