The St. Nicholas (Svyato-Mykolayivsʹkyy) Church suffered severe damage during the Soviet era and World War II—the bell tower and dome were lost. The church building was later used as a movie theater and a grain storage facility.

Divine services resumed in the 1960s, and the church was restored in the 1990s and 2000s.

Today, Zhykhor is a district of Kharkiv. The church is located at Hetmanska Street, 11.
