The home of British Consul Charles Blackie was built on Sadovo-Kulikovskaya Street in 1910, designed by V. Gaush (presumably).

The building houses the Artists’ House. Art exhibitions, themed evenings, and other events are held here.

Many original features have been preserved in the house—for example, the window hardware.

The building was constructed in the Northern Art Nouveau style. The roof’s angular lines are particularly striking.

Charles Blackie served as an honorary British consul; his primary place of employment was at the “Helfferich-Sade” partnership, where he served as director.

The year of construction is indicated on the medallion.

After the 1917 Revolution, the building housed a kindergarten and a hotel for foreigners.
