As we know, according to the official account, our beloved city was liberated from the Nazis on August 23, 1943.
Numerous newspapers of that time vied with one another to publish numerous articles and reports on this topic in their issues. Admittedly, they were not always accurate. Nevertheless, the photographs published, for example, in the newspapers *Izvestia*, *Krasnaya Zvezda*, and *Komsomolskaya Pravda* remain of great historical value to this day. After all, thanks to them, we can see our city as it was in late August 1943… a city being reborn and rising from the ruins.
To our great regret, many historic buildings that were not destroyed during that terrible war and survived it are now being demolished…
