Back in 1871, A. Ilyin’s publishing house in St. Petersburg published a book titled “Detailed Atlas of the Russian Empire with Maps of Major Cities: 70 Maps.”
It cost quite a bit back then—20 silver rubles. The publication included both maps of all the provinces and plans of provincial cities.
Our favorite city was also featured on page 55.
For some reason, this map has gone largely unnoticed by researchers, so we’d like to share it with you. After all, it’s so wonderful and beautiful!)
