Let's remember him this way…

Let’s remember it this way. The former tuberculosis clinic at Chornoglazivska Street, 11 is being rapidly dismantled brick by brick.

We’ve long been curious about the origins of this house, which have remained a mystery; the following theories are circulating online:

1) The building (or its central section) was built around 1893;

2) Before the 1917 Revolution, it housed the Kharkiv Provincial Noble Society. Part of the building was set aside as a shelter and a home for young and elderly members of the nobility, respectively;

3) In the 1920s and 1930s, the building housed the 49th General Education School;

4) It became a tuberculosis clinic around 1938–1939, and it operated there until 2010;
5) The building is not a historic landmark.

We are confident that these versions most likely contain a number of inaccuracies, which will be clarified over time by respected local historians in Kharkiv.

A 10-story residential complex called “Brussels” is to be built on the site of the existing building.

Some local historians were concerned about the condition of the “Chernoglazovskiye Oaks,” designated as botanical natural monuments. These two trees, ranging in age from 160 to 260 years, are located next to the future construction site. They are currently protected by tall construction fences with warning signs, apparently placed there specifically to prevent construction equipment from damaging them. We hope that their root systems will not be damaged by construction work or the installation of utilities.
