The “Dynamo” apartment building at Poltavskyi Shliakh Street, 31 is one of the most impressive on this street.

It was built between 1914 and 1916 based on a design by Boris Gershkovich. This is an architectural landmark in the Renaissance Revival style.

History has preserved both the name of the client (merchant M. Bosin) and that of the developer (the firm of Geronimus and Salun).

During construction, bricks were reused that had been salvaged from small buildings that had previously stood on the site of the current Palace of Labor.

It’s interesting to note that in the ’90s and early 2000s, the building lay in ruins, staring at passersby with empty eye sockets, while Dmytrivs’ka Street was partially blocked by an abandoned crane.

Nevertheless, the house was restored, and the wooden floors were replaced with steel beams. The interiors were lost, but the facade was well restored. The building is partly used as office space, which prevents the balconies from being enclosed with glass as it became common for apartments.
