In 2021, the facade of the National University of Pharmacy building at Hryhoriia Skovorody Street, 53 was renovated.

During the renovation, the facade color was changed from yellow to green

The air conditioners were removed from the facade.

A time capsule has been buried in front of the entrance (“to be opened on September 10, 2121”)

The building was constructed in 1911.

This was an apartment building owned by the Kharkiv Evangelical Lutheran Society. It had previously housed a poorhouse and the clergy of that same society.

The architect behind this Art Nouveau architectural landmark is Jūlijs Caune.

During the Soviet era, the X-ray Academy was located here; later, it became a dental institute.

The building’s facade had previously been restored according to a design by V. Novgorodov (Kharkiv branch of the UkrNIIproektrestavratsiya Institute). This project included granite cladding for the base—a fairly common innovation permitted by architectural heritage authorities to provide additional protection for the building against moisture and extend its lifespan.
An interesting fact (or, more precisely, an artifact): guard stones have been preserved at the entrance to the building’s archway.
