One of architect Jūlijs Caune’s most beautiful Art Nouveau buildings is located at Kulykivskyj Descent, 18. According to the list of architectural landmarks, the building was constructed in 1908 as an apartment block. According to the register of property owners, it belonged to Anna Andriivna Tseslinska, the wife of a doctor. It currently houses the Hotel Management Training Centre of the O.M. Beketov Kharkiv National University of Municipal Economy.

Incidentally, Kulykivskyj Descent was originally part of Sadovo-Kulykivska Street (now Darvina Street), but in 1900 it was separated into a distinct Gubernatorska Street.

It was given this name in honour of the governor’s office, which was located at No. 13.
In 1922, the street was renamed in honour of the Revolution, and it retained this name until 2015.

This building, like many other architectural landmarks on this street, was damaged as a result of the Russian missile strike on Kulykivskyj Descent on 5 February 2023.
