The building at Constitution Square, 3 was built in 1894 as a store for the Ponomarev and Ryzhov company and was originally 2-story. There are assumptions that the author of the original design of the building was Viktor Velichko, there are also versions about the architect Andrea Thomson.

This building is an architectural landmark. Initially, the store sold lamps, tools, and other small building materials and household goods. In the 1930s, the building housed the Torgsin store.

In 1954, the former store was extended by 3 floors according to the design of D. Zalichenko, and to the right of it a new building in the Stalinist (socialist classicism) style was built a little earlier. The decor of the new floors is not as rich as the original first two.

Thus, the building height of Constitution Square was completely leveled in this quarter.

In post-WWII times, the building was better known as the “Lux” store.

During the years of Ukraine independence, an Adidas store was opened in the building.
The building was severely damaged by a Russian missile strike on March 2, 2022.
