The former Real School on Heroiv Nebesnoi Sotni Square is beautiful in both winter and summer, but especially during the spring bloom.

It was built in 1877, designed by architect K. Tolkunov in an eclectic style with neo-Gothic elements. Real schools were, to some extent, analogous to modern technical colleges—their curriculum was geared toward training personnel for the needs of industry and commerce. Graduates of real schools were not eligible to enrol in university.

Current address: Heroiv Kharkova Avenue, 45.

The gymnasium was added to the building in 1890.

In 1892, a chapel was established at the Real School.

In the 1920s, the building housed the Geodesy Institute, on the basis of which the Institute of Agricultural Mechanization and Electrification was established in 1931. In 1994, the institute became the Kharkiv State Technical University of Agriculture. The building of the former Real School housed the Educational and Scientific Institute of Mechatronics and Management Systems, which was part of the university.

In 2021, the University of Agriculture became part of the State University of Biotechnology.

The building was damaged in a Russian missile strike on the Court of Appeals building in March 2022 and lost its windows.
On July 29, 2022, the rear section of the building was destroyed in a second missile strike.
