Kharkiv is adorable not only with the history, but also with the present. One of the most well-known street artists of Kharkiv is Gamlet Zinkivskyi. This album presents both street art and indoors works in Kharkiv which are in open access, both surviving and lost works.
Gamlet’s (born in 1986) first street art dates back to 2000. Since then, he created more than 150 works in Kharkiv and more than 100 have survived. Many of them can be found in the arches and courtyards of houses – Gamlet called them “Street art for people of the rain.” According to the artist’s plan, people, hiding from sudden downpours in these arches, can contemplate the works and think about their meaning, reading philosophical inscriptions. Gamlet also said that these inscriptions on the works are the main thing in them. A lot of inscriptions are word plays.
His early, colored works artis was signed as Gamlet, but then switched to “Gam let” signature, where a space added a kind of wordplay (translated as “noise of years”).
Gamlet regularly paints new works on the walls, so this album is constantly updating.
You can also see Gamlet’s new street art on his Facebook and Instagram accounts.

Lost works
Many of Gamlet’s works were buffed by utilities, graffiti crews or were lost when buildings or fences were reconstructed. Street art is not eternal in nature. Gamlet tries to restore the works that he still considers relevant.
